A Funny Turn of Events

Do you ever hear sirens and started praying for the person or people in need of assistance?  I try to, too.   This afternoon, while in my garage, I heard the fire truck sirens close to my house.  I said a simple prayer for those involved, praying for protection, safety, etc.

My mind shifted to something else just as soon as I said amen.  That poor brain of mine is a lot like that scene from the movie Up.  Just call me Dug the dog because I get distracted easily by a LOT of squirrels!

As I was walking into my bedroom I smelled the smoke and wondered how close the fire was to my house. My phone rang seconds later and my future daughter-in-law asked if the fire had reached my house yet.  I was really confused and oblivious to the scene unfolding on my property.  🤦🏻‍♀️.  Imagine my suprise when I look out my window and saw the local fire department putting out the fire in my back yard!!

What started out as a sweet Mother's Day gift from my sons quickly turned into chaos.  It's been dry and my mower decided to catch fire, causing all that dry grass to burn with a vengeance. Thankfully, there was no real property damage and no one was injured, with the exception to my oldest son's pride. He was on the mower and he called the fire department when he couldn't get the blaze under control.

My first thought after seeing the aftermath one of praise and appreciation. The charred grass is going to grow back so lush and beautiful, better than before the damage.  I could have easily gone into a negative state of mind, but God was like...daughter, it's all good here.  He reminded me how he loves to make beauty from ashes.

Don't you just love that about him?? I know I do.  Not only did he give me peace, he provided protection for everyone working on the fire.  Many times I've experienced first hand God making beauty from those ashes.  He restores what has been lost and the restoration is far more beautiful than the past broken situation buried under the ashes of what once was.

A heartfelt and sincere thank you to everyone that put the fire out.  Thank you Jesus for always being by our sides.  I cannot wait to witness the beautiful grass growing from the ashes.

I love you guys!

Isaiah 61:3 -

To console those who mourn in Zion, To give them beauty for ashes, The oil of joy for mourning, The garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; That they may be called trees of righteousness, The planting of the Lord, that He may be glorified.”
