To Surrender or not to Surrender…that is the Question!

Theo Von, a famous standup comedian, recently went on a pod cast discussing his struggles with his need for healing, but was admittedly afraid of what his life would look like afterwards. Now, I'm sure many of you have either seen the pod cast or you've seen snipits from the social media experts discussing the pod cast.  I personally haven't watched the pod cast fully, but one question he asked really struck a chord with me.  He questioned (I'm paraphrasing) if he truly wanted to be healed by Jesus because he'd be different, his whole story would be different.  Wow, what a transparent and sobering question from a man who is hopefully on the cusp of fully surrendering.

How many of us have ever been in the same situation? My heart was moved by his honesty and also troubled that he was wrestling with the consequences of accepting healing from our Jesus.  I can remember as a young child being convicted by the Holy Spirit to surrender my heart. Each time I would convince myself that I had time to worry about that later.  Later for me came at the ripe old age of 28, after the birth of my first child.

Fast forward to January 2026...the Holy Spirit showed me how I had skidded off the path with my walk in faith.  I've been working very hard the past 4 months to get back on track.  I've begged for repentance and God is my #1 main man these days.  Theo, I'm here to tell you that walking with the Lord is worth everything you'll ever give up on this side of heaven.  The love, grace and healing he freely gives feels better than any human experience ever.

Once I started getting back into the word, studying, having intimate and honest conversations with Jesus things really started to change for me. I can't fully express the joy and happiness I feel in my spirit.  And look at me...writing a blog for his glory, hopefully helping others with similar struggles.  This blog is not only therapeutic for me, it's such a blessing to write to you guys.

Don't get it twisted and please be prepared for troubles to brew. Walking in full faith and obedience with Jesus is not for the faint of heart.  I've had some really really heavy and painful situations put in my way in 2026. I know that Satan works a lot overtime when he's afraid of you and your walk with the Lord.  Because of my surrendering my life to God, I look at these situations as uncomfortable but necessary opportunities.  I know during these times I'm being grown in faith, stretched in obedience and I'm learning to lay everything at his feet.  I know that I'm never alone and I take everything to him in prayer now.  It's so comforting to know that the burdens of this world are not meant for us to carry alone.

You'll never hear me claim to be perfect because I still get discouraged, sad and overwhelmed at moments.  After all, I'm only human and my flesh is weak. God expects nothing less from us.  I praise God for granting me peace, rest and most of all GRACE.  The old me walking outside of God's will would still be crashed out and a total wreck about the smallest inconvenience.

That's what makes our God so amazing.  He never leaves or forsakes us. He wants us to cast all of our cares on him, let him do the heavy lifting.  Theo, buddy, I promise that you'll never regret surrendering to God's will.  You will, however, regret it if you don't.

For anyone struggling with addictions (alcoholism, drugs, pornography, sex), crippling anxiety or fear or any other sin thats keeping you from fully surrendering and stuck, it's time to let go and let God.  I promise you'll never regret allowing him to bless your mess.

I love you guys but God loves you the most!

P S Here are some scripture to help you make the most important and impactful decision you'll ever make for yourself.  Also, I purposefully used the word impactful because when you surrender to God, others take notice and your light might be the beacon they need to find their way to surrendering.

Salvation:

Romans 3:23"For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God." (NKJV)

Romans 6:23"For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord." (NKJV)

Romans 5:8"But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us." (NKJV)

Romans 10:9-10"If you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved." (NKJV)

Romans 5:1"Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ." (NKJV)

Romans 8:1"There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus..." (NKJV)

Rededication:

Psalms 51:12 "Restore to me the joy of your salvation and grant me a willing spirit, to sustain me

Revelation 2:5 "Remember therefore from where you have fallen; repent, and do the works you did at first. If not, I will come to you and remove your lampstand from its place, unless you repent."
